The British and Chinese Corporation to Foreign Office.-(Received May 2.)
22, Abchurch Lane, London, May 1, 1907. WE beg leave to acknowledge the receipt of, and to thank you for, your letter of the 27th ultimo, in which you are so good as to inform us, by direction of Sir Edward Grey, that a telegram has been received from His Majesty's Minister at Peking, stating that he has been informed by the Wai-wu Pu in writing that they instructed the Chinese Minister in London by telegraph on the 18th April to sign and seal the bonds of the Canton-Kowloon Railway Loan.
We beg leave to add that, we have submitted to the Chinese Minister a draft of the bond, and that his Excellency has approved of the same; and we have to-day received a letter from him, stating that in accordance with our request he has informed Sir Edward Grey that on presentation to him by the British and Chinese Corporation of the bonds (15,000 in number), he is authorized and prepared to append thereto his official seal of office.
